The “Patisserie Panayiotis” was founded in 1965 by Mr Panayiotis Christoforou. The first patisserie was next to the Kykkos High School for Boys in Engomi, Nicosia. In 1968, he decided to extend his business activities by setting up proprietary ice cream parlours that also sold sweets and cakes in Famagusta, Morphou, Makedonitissa and the main road opposite ELDYK. Then Mr Christoforou decided to expand into the area of wholesale ice cream.

In 1969, Mr Panayiotis Papaphilippou founded “Papaphilippou Confectionery”. The first confectionery was in Severis Avenue close to the Presidential Palace.

The year 1973 is an important landmark in the history of ice cream and confectionaries on the island. Their love for ice cream and the family compelled Mr Papaphilippou and Mr Christoforou to create the confectionary company “Panayiotis & Papaphilippou Patisserie Ltd” known nowadays as “La Patisserie Panayiotis”.
